It’s been over 2 decades since my mom left me a voicemail apologizing and telling me how much she loved me. I was still in school, riding the school bus. I valued that voicemail so much I saved it for over 2 decades. My mom passed away about 9 months ago and today I accidentally deleted the voicemail. It hurts. I tried calling Verizon to get back the message and they said it couldn’t be done. I know it’s something small but it hurts. “Honey, you mean more to me than any pictures” I may never hear those words again. Those words that have comforted me for the past two decades.
I know things happen for a reason and this is a lesson and a sign that I need to let go of the past. I know it is. My voicemail still has massages saved from my man who died when I was 23 and from my ex husband. I’ve been holding onto a lot of things from the past, and I have to let go.
